FD Recruit is partnering a client in East Yorkshire to appoint a CFO on a permanent basis. The CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and overall business operations of the organisation. This executive position requires an experienced financial leader with a proven track record in strategic financial management. This role would suit a Finance Director, Head of Finance or Senior Financial Controller who has operated in a strategic role and is ready to step up.

Experience within the retail or e-commerce sector would be beneficial but is not essential. The CFO will interface closely with the UK CEO and the European parent company, to align financial strategies with overall business objectives and growth plans. Through the provision of insightful reporting, the CFO will be able to make recommendations regarding the strategic direction of the company and ensure that the senior leadership team can make informed decisions. The CFO will be the major link between the UK business and parent company.

It is crucial that the CFO demonstrates integrity, professionalism and respect when dealing with all colleagues. This role will partner closely with the rest of the executive leadership team.

The CFO will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to support decision-making processes across the business.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling activities to ensure accurate financial planning and monitoring performance.
  • Produce comprehensive financial analysis, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to drive informed business decisions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and board presentations.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Advise on best practice and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and systems.
  • Manage compliance and risk.
  • Drive the vision and strategy of the UK business and ensure alignment with the European parent company.
  • Presents financial performance and key metrics to other members of the Board and also stakeholders at group level.
  • Identify and eliminate waste and drive operational efficiencies. Provide recommendations on initiatives to improve the business.
  • Provide visual representations to ensure a common understanding of short, mid and long term goals, issues and solutions.
  • Monitor and manage profit and margins advising on actions required to improve.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring they are efficient and well trained to carry out all functions.
  • Support the team and broader business with technical challenges to identify solutions.
  • Assist, support, develop and coach colleagues across the organization, sharing knowledge, skills and expertise as required.

To be successful in this role the CFO will have the following experience:

  • Qualified finance professional ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
  • Proven track record of driving change and managing the financial health and growth of a business.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to communicate and get buy in to vision/strategy.
  • Self-aware and is able to identify areas for development.
  • Inspires others, thrives on developing and improving teams.
  • Shows humility and respect towards others.
  • Acts with integrity, is reliable.
  • Problem solver who can challenge positively to find solutions.
  • Communicates new ideas and brings positivity and creativity.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Kaizen working practises is an advantage.

The salary advertised for this role is a guideline and the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
