Are you resilient and experienced HLTA looking for new challenges? Are you keen to join a supportive and committed team? Are you a positive and caring individual who can make a difference and raise aspirations for young people? If you have answered yes to the above, then this is the role for you.

Hays Education are seeking to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for a lovely Infant School in the Castleford area. This is a permanent position to start in September 2024.

The successful candidate will have the ability to relate well to children and adults and have the ability to deal with conflicting demands and be able to work flexibly. You will also have experience and knowledge of the national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes and strategies and how to implement them. Understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to work with these will play a key part in this role.

You will be a positive influence within the school and have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these. You will also be a talented individual who will foster a supportive learning environment for our students.

You will be working with students, colleagues, and visitors across the school, so you'll need to love working with people, have very high standards and be prepared to work hard. You will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills with the ability to problem solve.

As a HLTA working in this role, you will:

  • Compliment teachers' delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and academy policies and strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist them in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
  • Provide support to pupils, teachers and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising your advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage pupils to become independent learners.

The school is situated in the former industrial heartland of Yorkshire, close to the junction of the M62 and A1 and its transport links. The Trust currently comprises four schools across the primary and secondary phases. This school is well-established with a culture of continued school improvement to ensure all children meet their potential. The school works closely and collaboratively with a Junior School on the same site and offers excellent opportunities for staff to grow and develop within a supportive ethos.

Their wellbeing programme includes a range of benefits including:

  • The opportunity to work collaboratively within a vibrant, supportive family of schools.
  • Committed investment in professional development
  • Their commitment to staff wellbeing (as shown by our Wellbeing Awards for Schools and school-based Staff Wellbeing Ambassadors).
  • Annual appraisals.
  • National College membership.
  • Recognition including Staff Awards.
  • Annual flu jabs.
