If so, we invite you to join our team as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)!

About Us:
Our schools in Bedford cater to pupils with a broad spectrum of needs, including moderate learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and those who require support due to exclusion or health concerns that temporarily prevent them from accessing mainstream education. The school work closely with families, agencies, and various organistions to ensure our pupils achieve exceptional outcomes and are equipped with the skills they need for bright futures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with a range of cognitive and physical challenges, adapting learning resources and strategies to meet their unique needs.
  • Assist in delivering a strong, engaging curriculum in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Work closely with families, external agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support for each pupil.
  • Help to build confidence, independence, and essential life skills in students.
  • Support the pastoral care practices that underpin the well-being of every pupil, contributing to their social, emotional, and academic development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly those with moderate learning difficulties and physical challenges.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with excellent communication skills to engage pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varied needs of pupils.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting pupils excluded from mainstream settings or those with complex health needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant SEN support strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
