Head of Sustainability

Our sustainability strategy and targets are set at global level with Group functions responsible for overseeing execution to agreed standards, ensuring that we also manage any legal & reputational risk to protect our license to operate. Joining us as Head of Sustainability, you'll be accountable for driving this strategy at a more local level (UK and Ireland markets), focusing on embedding this into Brand Marketing and Retailer activations to unlock Commercial value. This role will also focus on increasing local understanding, capability and engagement on sustainability and nutrition to ensure brand marketing and sales teams are prepared for this new operating landscape.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Work with the Cluster Marketing Director, local communications contacts, Group Corporate Affairs and Sustainability teams to create a clear plan on how we can leverage and activate sustainability as a commercial growth driver.
  • Embed sustainability into Cluster communication platforms.
  • Accountable for accurate local sustainability reporting as required, working in close partnership with both the Group Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Cluster teams. Contribute local case studies and data for internal and external reports as required.
  • Ensure the right projects and programmes are prioritised in line with global commitments e.g. chicken welfare, sustainable fish, seafood and agriculture.
  • Build knowledge of and capability for Sustainability in our employee base, identifying core areas of focus for the Cluster.
  • Work with Shopper marketing teams on compelling activation plans that communicate key sustainability messages and benefits of frozen food at the point of purchase (food waste, nutrition, sourcing, value, etc).
  • Actively participate in Cluster key influencing industry groups and engage with other relevant stakeholders to build our reputation on sustainability.

About you...

You're passionate about sustainability and nutrition with previous experience in global, matrixed organisation, able to collaborate, communicate and influence stakeholders. We look for people who are focused on getting results, embrace learning and bring positive energy, combining initiative with a sense of teamwork and collaboration.

  • Demonstrable experience in driving the sustainability agenda in branded businesses. (FMCG experience ideal but not essential)
  • Proven experience delivering across total commercial mix in local country, as part of a broader global agenda.
  • Commercial acumen - being able to demonstrate benefits in relationship to cost.
  • Experience representing a large-scale organisation on sustainability focused trade or other external bodies.
  • Good project management skills, being able to bring structure and clarity.
