Job Title GIS Technician

Contract type Full time: 37.5 hours per week - Flexible between 8am and 6pm

Duration Up to 6 months

Location Glasgow (Bishopbriggs) Office based,

Reports to Head of Geo Information, Cartographic Team

Salary £12.50 per hour

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well established company that has a mapping/cartographic team which has been in operation for many years

Purpose of the Role
To enhance geographic vector databases and associated information using GIS technology, and to provide this content in a timely and cost effective manner for map creation projects.

You will adhere toeditorial policy and guidelines to ensure that all content is up to date and of a high quality.

The main project you will be working on involves capturing physical feature names in Spain, Italy, France or Germany to the core vector and names databases using a variety of authoritative and copyright-free sources.

Responsibility Result/Outcomes
GIS data capture - Capture and edit GIS data to create a highly accurate database of physical features
Quality control - Ensure all GIS data adheres to editorial policy and standards.
Information acquisition and analysis - Work with Information Specialists to ensure best possible information sources are used tocreate and maintain content
Time management - Ensure that all work is done to customer contractual deadlines

Person Specification
Geography (Or simiilar qualification) graduate
Experience of editing GIS vector data within ESRI geodatabases
The ability to create high quality mapping from GIS vector databases (training provided)

Skills /Competencies
Practical knowledge of ESRI GIS editing software, either ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro
The ability to research and interpret mapping sources to help make decisions on the appropriate represention of geographic features within the database
Good communicator

Approachable and enthusiastic
Good team player

You will be working as part of a small cartographic team of GIS, Information, and Editorial specialists,who are dedicated to creating accurate authoritative mapping
