Elevation Recruitment Group are recruiting a Laboratory Technician for a heavy, highly regulated manufacturer in Sheffield. The role, on a 3-shift rotation will provide accurate and timely chemical analysis using accredited methods.

- Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical analysis to documented methods and procedures using the XRF, spark-OES, gas fusion, combustion and GDMS techniques.
- Perform micro-cleanliness examinations using optical microscopy.
- Prepare samples suitable for analysis and micro-cleanliness examination.
- Conduct instrument and equipment scheduled maintenance activities.
- Complete general 5S duties within the working environment.
- Monitor and correct instrument calibration drift.
- Calculate in-process melt additions (bath sample additions).
- Report test results.
- Carry out contract review for external contract analysis.
- Conduct individual improvement projects.
I'm keen to speak to experienced Laboratory Technicians with the following skillset:
- Recognised qualification in Chemistry/Metallurgy/Materials Science
- Extensive experience in a similar environment - metallurgy
- Basic theoretical knowledge of the analytical techniques used on site.
- An understanding of dilutions and concentrations when making solutions.
- Must have an aptitude/competence for preparing samples using abrasive techniques.
