Role Overview

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a non-verbal, autistic pupil in Year One who requires assistance with personal care, including wearing nappies. This full-time role is crucial in helping the child achieve their full potential in a mainstream classroom setting.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to a non-verbal, autistic pupil in Year One.
  • Assist with personal care needs, including changing nappies.
  • Implement and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the pupil's specific needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor and report on the pupil's progress.
  • Support the pupil's social and emotional well-being, encouraging positive interactions with peers.
  • Assist with classroom activities and ensure the pupil's safety and engagement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Ability to assist with personal care needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
