I am working on an exclusive basis with my client to recruit a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join a small proactive Finance team of 3 people, based on site with possible Hybrid working after probationary period.
The purpose of the role to control the Accounts Payable ledger to ensure that it represents accurately the approved purchase liabilities of the business. Duties will include receiving and logging invoices, maintaining and updating an accounts payable ledger and generating ledger reports and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Attaching the correct documentation to invoices and reconciling purchase orders to invoices received
- Posting invoices and credit notes and ensuring they're coded correctly in the system
- Reviewing systems and processes, discussing and making improvements where necessary
- Communicating with relevant suppliers to process invoicing or payment queries
- Preparing monthly supplier statement reconciliations
- Dealing with external and internal queries by phone and email
- Preparing and processing supplier payments and ensuring that the Finance Manager has signed all payments off
- Ensuring that all accounts payable activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures
- Investigating and resolving outstanding creditor items
- Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
- Answering the phone when necessary

- Confident with MS Office and ideally experience using Sage 50 or Sage 200
