Senior Building Surveyor

Teqniq is searching for a Senior Building Surveyorto work in the public sector.

37 hours per week.

5 months contract.

Job Description:

  • To commission, manage and control multi-disciplinary teams of in-house and external professionals, in order to offer a successful and comprehensive building surveying service.
  • To commission building and engineering works ensuring that the work is undertaken to the agreed standards, safely, on time, and achieving best value.
  • To act as a senior professional advisor on building and building pathology related issues.
  • To manage and report to clients on a range of work and projects, and to ensure effective and accessible communication with staff, clients, service users, the general public and others as appropriate.
  • Ensure that projects and works are delivered to the satisfaction of the client or end user.
  • To assist in the development and management of term contracts for maintenance works, producing periodic reports on the performance of the term contracts / contractors as may be required.
  • Plan, prepare and manage the implementation of a broad range of construction and maintenance programmes of work, co-ordinating required statutory consents, project deadlines and budgetary restrictions to ensure projects are delivered on time and without overspend against the Council's approved budgets.
  • Management of a wide range of capital and revenue work valued in excess of £3M per annum across a wide range of projects.

Management

  • Be responsible for recruiting, leading, managing (including review of performance) the post holders reporting to this post in accordance with Council and Service policies.
  • Be responsible for procuring, leading, managing (including review of performance) framework, contractors and other consultancy staff as required to support the successful determination and delivery of programmes of work in accordance with Council and Service policies.
  • Ensure the development and communication of clear service objectives and performance targets. Establish and implement performance review mechanisms in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Ensure that the Building Surveying Team's employees and consultant staff are effectively organised and resourced, and that the budget of the team is effectively managed.
  • Assist in the development of the skills and experience of other members of the group by giving professional guidance and advice.
  • To ensure that services are delivered within the available budgets and internal resource allocations.
  • To ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with Statute including the CDM regulations, acting as Principal Designer where required or otherwise ensuring the written appointment of the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
