Assistant SENCo

Reed is currently working in partnership with a reputable secondary school in the Biggleswade area to recruit an Assistant SENCo for a permanent role starting in September 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to the support and development of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Collaborate with the SENCo to assess and identify the specific needs of students with SEND.
  • Assist in the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provision maps.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to implement tailored interventions and support strategies.
  • Support the monitoring and tracking of student progress, providing regular updates to the SENCo and relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practices in SEND provision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEND are desirable but not essential.
