Paraplanner

An opportunity for a friendly and enthusiastic person to join a small IFA firm in Glasgow as a Technical Specialist/Paraplanner. This position is office based.

The ideal candidate will have experience gained by working in an IFA office as a technical administrator but preferably a Senior Paraplanner. You must have a good understanding of the financial services industry and have a good knowledge of investments and pensions. You will cover all aspects of the financial planning and no two days will likely be the same. You will need the ability to react to situations quickly.

The Job

  • The technical specialist will be responsible for the research and review recommendations for our UHNW clients
  • Data input into our client's back office system as well as systems of insurance companies and other platforms
  • Pension switch/transfer recommendations
  • Arrangement of SIPPs/SSAS pension plans
  • Pension Drawdown and pension income withdrawal planning
  • Pension Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance planning reports, including the use of Lifetime Allowance protection
  • IHT and Estate planning recommendations via the use of Trusts, Tax Allowances and tax planning vehicles such as EIS/VCT etc
  • Investment withdrawal planning and tax planning, including on and offshore investment bond surrenders/withdrawals and Capital Gains Tax planning
  • Corporate investment planning and corporate protection, including Keyman Insurance, Relevant Life and Group Schemes
  • Interaction with insurance companies and platforms to generate appropriate information
  • Supporting team members with technical administration
  • To produce client portfolio valuations from various investment providers

Skills and Experience

  • Experience using Xplan or something similar
  • Numerate and literate with some knowledge various administrative systems specifically financial
