Design Technician

Our construction industry client based in Kettering is expanding and seeking a new DESIGN TECHNICIAN to join the team

A fulltime, permanent role requiring super strong attention to detail and a systematic approach

The role is to create and complete Multi Utility quotes in a timely manner based on a weekly priority list making sure to adhere to company processes, procedures and standards to ensure that the Developers requirements and timescales are achieved

Duties to include:

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Manage utility connection queries, plans, and studies (water, gas, electricity).

  • Review and revise quotes and technical drawings.

  • Conduct network studies and produce cost models.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (colleagues, developers, clients).

  • Attend client meetings and provide regular updates.

  • Review colleagues' work and offer constructive feedback.

Project Management & Administration:

  • Manage project timelines and priorities.

  • Track client progress and update information systems.

  • Perform general administrative tasks (filing, emails, calls).

  • Archive project documents electronically.

Knowledge requirements:

  • A basic understanding of utilities, although the role will be a full training role.
  • Understanding of Microsoft office packages including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD - Essential.

Skills and abilities:

  • Good timekeeping.
  • Organised.
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail.
  • Able to work as a team but also able to use your own initiative.
  • Team player.
  • Good communicator and Listener.
  • Able to solve problems.

Experience

  • Previous experience in an Administration/office role - Essential.
  • Experience using AutoCAD at a basic level - Essential
  • Previous experience in a Project Management role/environment - Desirable

This is an office based position, Monday to Friday 0830-1700, and we can only accept applications from candidates based in and around Northamptonshire. The client is also unable to provide any form of visa sponsorship
