We are looking for a dedicated Community Outreach Worker to play a pivotal role in assisting unemployed youth with employment reintegration. This role involves providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help develop essential skills and find suitable job opportunities. The successful candidate will be part of a new careers programme, working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and other organisations to support Universal Credit customers.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance with a student-first approach.
  • Create personalised action plans for young people to support them into a positive destination.
  • Work with customers to ensure the best outcome and make referrals to employability teams.
  • Liaise with college teams for referrals to various courses and report back on activities.
  • Manage an individual caseload and contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the programme.
  • Engage and develop a student's vocational skills and personal social development.
  • Publicise services by establishing contacts with local referral agencies to increase recruitment and retention.
  • Maintain relationships and contracts to provide work placements.
  • Organise and run weekly job clubs, providing advice and guidance on employment.
  • Provide tailored In Work Support to young people in employment.
  • Build relationships with young people, focusing on their emotional, social, academic, domestic, and professional needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified and experienced in career work, having achieved a Level 3 Information Advice and Guidance.
  • Significant knowledge of engaging and developing a student's vocational skills and personal social development.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups and providing mentoring/pastoral support.
  • Ability to work towards set KPIs and achieve quantitative and qualitative targets.
  • Proficiency in caseload management and ability to work independently.
  • Experience in working with employers for job brokering and reverse job marketing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain neat, organised, and auditable work.
