We are on the hunt for a motivated Assistant Accountant to join a thriving and supportive team in Southampton. This is a new role with the opportunity to get involved in all areas of accounts, oversee the ledger team, and contribute to process improvements. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:
- Providing support to purchase ledger and sales ledger departments
- Being the first point of contact for queries from junior team members
- Taking over the process for company credit cards, ensuring the process adheres to guidelines and accounts are reconciled as statements come through
- Ensuring purchase orders are processed appropriately
- Supporting the credit controller – overseeing customer portals where invoices are uploaded and ensuring customers are invoiced correctly
- Assisting the Management Accountant and Financial Controller with monthly reporting
What you will need:
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant / Assistant Management Accountant / Accounts Team Leader / Purchase Ledger Clerk / Sales Ledger Clerk
- AAT qualification or qualified by experience
- A range of experience in accounting and finance, looking for a step up from purely transactional roles
- Competence with Excel
- Confidence to supervise team members' work and communicate any issues
