We are seeking an experienced Mould Shop Operator with expertise in injection and compression moulding to join a leading manufacturing company in Whitstable. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to apply your skills in a dynamic and innovative environment.
The Role:
As a Mould Shop Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient production of moulded components, aligned with the company's high standards. Key duties include:
- Material Mixing: Mixing and milling mould materials following precise instructions to ensure accurate material composition and batch traceability.
- Machine Setup: Loading and setting bolsters/tools in machines, verifying the condition of tooling, and configuring machine parameters (time, temperature, injection rates) to maintain quality.
- First-Off Inspection: Producing and inspecting first-off components, ensuring adherence to quality standards, specifications, and drawings.
- Mould Machine Operation: Operating both injection and compression moulding machines, manually loading/unloading tools and materials, and preparing raw material for production.
- In-Process Quality Checks: Performing inspections during production runs to ensure product quality and making any necessary adjustments.
- Tool Management: Maintaining tools during production runs, ensuring proper cleaning, application of release agents, and liaising with the toolroom in case of tool issues.
- Post-Production Handling: Trimming parts manually, conducting post-cure treatments in ovens, and ensuring correct temperatures and timings for materials.
- Testing & Deflashing: Using a Curometer to test mould materials and managing the deflashing process with the cryotrim machine.
- Additional Duties: Supporting other tasks in the Mould Shop or other departments as needed.
Key Requirements:
- Solid experience in injection and compression moulding processes.
- Knowledge of machine setup and parameter adjustments to ensure consistent production quality.
- Proven ability to conduct in-process inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Familiarity with post-production processes such as deflashing and post-curing.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
