SEN Teacher Job - Permanent, Full time

You will be working in a scenic area within an Ofsted rated outstanding school that offers a nurturing and inclusive environment for students with all abilities. The school has a strong focus on tailoring learning programs that help each student reach their potential. You will be working with a dedicated team of staff and small classroom size to ensure personalised attention, fostering academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development in a caring community. You will be encouraged and supported to further develop your skills and knowledge by undertaking regular CPD opportunities. You will be working with children diagnosed with autism, complex learning disabilities and severe social communication and behavioural issues.

Your new role

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery - Develop and implement individualised lesson plans that cater to the specific learning needs of each student.
  • Classroom Management - Maintain a supportive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning, ensuring the well-being of all students.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Provide tailored teaching strategies and interventions for students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Student Assessment - Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal methods, adapting teaching methods as needed.
  • Collaboration with Support Staff - Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to deliver a holistic educational experience.
  • Parental Engagement - Maintain open communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Behavioural Support - Implementing behaviour management plans and providing emotional and social support to students, promoting positive behaviour and development.
  • Professional Development - Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated with best practices in SEN education.
  • Individualised Education Plan (IEP) Management - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create, review, and update IEPs for each student.
  • Safeguarding and Well-being - Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Extracurricular Activities - Organise or participate in extracurricular programs, fostering the social and personal growth of students beyond the classroom.
  • Record Keeping - Maintain detailed records of student progress, behaviour, and any interventions used, ensuring compliance with school and legal requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Someone who can work well within a team and risk assessing challenging situations in order to keep yourself and others safe.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • To be approachable, professional with empathy and understanding of the needs of students
  • You will need to ideally hold QTS
