Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage classroom activities, working collaboratively with teachers to deliver high-quality, tailored education for SEN students.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans to support the academic and personal growth of each student.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique needs.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SEN Coordinator (SENCO).
  • Support the development of students' social skills and encourage positive behaviour.
  • Take responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity in student learning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external specialists to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with experience in SEN support.
  • Hold a relevant qualification or certification as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
  • Proven ability to lead and manage classroom activities effectively.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about best practices in SEN education.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the development of students with SEN.
