An exciting government organisation based in London are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join their team. You will be supporting the Financial Controller in ensuring financial information is accurately recorded and reported.
Your new role
Your main responsibilities supporting the Financial Controller include:
- Production of an Annual Report and Accounts
- The annual audit process, liaising with internal and external auditors
- Monitor and drive monthly financial close process, including posting financial accounting journals
- Determine and document finance policies, controls and processes
- Maintain and enhance the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring it is compliant with charging requirements
- Management of the bank accountant and preparation of cash forecasting for funding
What you'll need to succeed
- Fully qualified CCAB accountant. Partially qualified accountants with relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience of producing annual accountants
- Demonstrable knowledge of relevant statutory accounting standards
- Ability to build and maintain relationships, manage complex stakeholders and leverage networks to deliver business objectives
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to grasp the environment and dynamics in which Parliament operates, including its interaction with Government
- Experience of working in the UK public sector will be beneficial, as well as knowledge of Government Financial Reporting Manual (FReM)
- Experience of operating in an organisation delivering major capital projects will also be beneficial
