Manufacturing Shift Manager

As the UK's leading manufacturing of bespoke aluminium doors and windows, at Origin, we are looking for a dynamic Shift Manager to lead and inspire one of our production shifts (morning/afternoon rotation). This pivotal role involves overseeing the Team Leaders across all our manufacturing areas: Doors Factory, Windows Factory, Internal Doors, and Sliders Factory. Your mission? To ensure our high-quality products are crafted on time in full while meeting our stringent productivity, safety, quality, and environmental standards.

The successful candidate will collaborate with other shift managers and report daily to the Head of Manufacturing to ensure smooth operations across all manufacturing areas, aligning efforts with the Company's goals and objectives. The successful candidate will use their leadership skills to promote a positive culture and drive engagement. Proactively driving continuous improvement initiative, you will train, develop and coach Team Leaders and Production Supervisors, conducting frequent performance reviews to maintain and elevate the high standards Origin is known for.

Rotating Shift Pattern (Monday - Friday)

  • 6am - 2:30pm
  • 2:45pm - 11:15pm

Key roles and responsibility of a Shift Manager at Origin includes, but is not limited to:

  • Manage daily workloads and shift patterns to meet business requirements
  • Maintain records of annual leave and absences to ensure optimal staffing levels and uninterrupted operations
  • Support Production Team Leaders and Supervisors, offering comprehensive training and guidance to deliver innovative solutions and expert advice to overcome production challenges and enhance team performance
  • Forster a dynamic and positive working environment that motives and engages employees
  • Understand and implement the 5S model into all production working practices. Organise audits from the Team Leaders and Supervisors and collate relevant feedback and promote continuous improvement
  • Manage and refine the production unit layout to ensure it supports efficient manufacturing processes and meets operational requirements
  • Oversee resource allocation between departments, ensuring efficient and effective utilization to meet delivery requirements
  • Champion product quality control, and maintain meticulous production records against manufacturing objectives
  • Advocate for and adhere to a safe working environment, complying with environmental, health and safety regulations and ISO standards
  • Analyse business trends to locate areas for improvement and develop effective solutions to enhance processes
  • Investigate production reports to understand the root cause, and formulate potential solutions. Optimise reports to tackle manufacturing challenges and drive performance improvements
  • Deliver constructive feedback during quarterly performance reviews with Production Team Leaders and Supervisors, fostering ongoing development and growth through targeted feedback and support
