Are you an Electrical Design Engineer or Control System Engineer looking for your next challenge?

Reporting to the Design Manager, as Electrical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design of bespoke control systems for industrial combustion equipment, steam and hot-water boilers, waste incinerators, thermal oxidisers, and thermal fluid systems

The role will see you using AutoCAD Electrical to generate electrical schematics, layout drawings and cable schedules for bespoke industrial control panels, as well as compiling bill of materials, and parts lists. You will see projects through from design stage to commissioning; fielding technical queries from the production and on-site teams relating to systems you have designed.

You will also be involved in the generation of other project-specific electrical documentation such as C&E diagrams, FAT and SAT procedures, and FDS documents. In addition to this, you will undertake functional testing of control panels, as well assisting with customer FATs. There may also be a requirement for occasional UK travel to customer sites, to assist with surveys, faut finding, design meetings, etc.

The successful candidate is likely to be qualified to HND level in a relevant electrical/electronic engineering discipline, with a good understanding of electrical circuit theory, control system design and AutoCAD Electrical, as well as holding good knowledge of relevant electrical standards (BS 7671, BS EN 60204, etc.). The successful candidate will be detail oriented and a strong problem solver; taking a methodical approach to their work.

This position is offering a salary in the region of £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience, together with a company pension and flexi hours (37.5 hours total per week).

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Drafting of control panel schematics and layout drawings in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Creation of control panel parts lists/bill of materials (BOMs)
  • Creation of cable schedules/block diagrams
  • Creation of electrical project documentation (C&E, FAT, SAT, FDS, etc.)
  • Undertake functional testing of control panels
  • Provide technical support to production team, on-site engineers, and clients
  • Selection of component assemblies based on project requirements.

Skills & Experience (Required)

  • Level 5 HND in a relevant electrical/electronic engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Good understanding of electrical circuit theory and control system design
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical standards such as BS 7671 and BS EN 60204
  • Previous experience working in an electrical engineering environment (industrial, building services, HVAC, etc.)
  • Proficient in AutoCADElectrica
  • Methodical thinker and problem solver
  • Motivated, focused, and strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter and able to manage own workload

Skills & Experience (Desirable)

  • Previous exposure to PLC and HMI software development, testing, and debugging
  • Previous experience/knowledge of industrial combustion equipment and standards
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (BS EN 61508 and BS EN 61511)
  • 18th Edition (BS7671) qualified
  • Full UK driving license
