The Role:
This _Hybrid_position entails managing a diverse client portfolio across different regions, including East Anglia, the home counties, London, and international clients. The primary focus will be on private clients and owner-managed businesses. Additionally, there may be opportunities to handle trust-related work and matters related to residence and domicile.
What you'll be doing
- Managing Client Portfolio:
o Ensure compliance deadlines are met for clients.
o Deliver high-quality client service through meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence.
- Client Acquisition:
o Onboard new clients via the firm's website, email, phone inquiries, and marketing efforts (including social media promotion).
- Tax Return Preparation:
o Prepare complex self-assessment tax returns and related tax calculations for high-value clients and partnerships using the firm's software (CCH).
o Review non-complex self-assessment tax returns prepared by junior staff.
- Compliance and Documentation:
o Maintain digital tax compliance and permanent files according to the firm's guidance.
o Handle all related correspondence with clients, HM Revenue & Customs, and third parties.
- Tax Advisory Support:
o Assist with planning projects and research technical tax issues.
o Draft clear, concise, and accurate advisory letters for review by senior staff.
- Training and Risk Management:
o Train junior staff and provide feedback.
o Adhere to internal risk management procedures, including anti-money laundering protocols.
- Productivity and Targets:
o Manage your own work in progress (WIP) allocation.
o Meet productivity, recoverability, and fee income targets.
- Collaboration:
o Work closely with other departments and tax team members to provide a cohesive service.
Desired skills
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a tax role, encompassing self-assessment, tax computations, and advisory work.
- ACCA / ACA / CTA or qualified by experience.
