Security Controller

Job Purpose:

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Security Controller to provide expert specialist security advice and support across their site, programmes, and projects. In this role, you will act as the key liaison between various stakeholders, ensuring that information security management standards are consistently effective and robust. What You'll Do:

  • Foster and develop a robust security culture to meet MoD, Government, and Company standards across the business.
  • Establish and maintain security procedures and ensure their effectiveness through timely audits.
  • Design, maintain, and amend security policies in response to changes in company infrastructure or changes to Security Legislation or Standards.
  • Oversee all security accreditations, compliances, and activities, including the roles of Security Controller and Atomic Liaison Officer.
  • Manage the control, storage, muster, and destruction of protectively marked material.
  • Manage CCTV Alarm and access control systems, ensuring appropriate maintenance programmes are in place.
  • Manage defence contract obligations, including Security Aspects Letters, policy management, security reporting, and audits.
  • Stay informed on legislative changes, technological advances, and best practices.
  • Safeguard crypto information held on charge by Crypto Custodians.
  • Work with IT and IT Systems Managers to ensure compliance with SyOps and security procedures for IT systems used in the company.
  • Assist HR with security vetting for new staff and provide security briefings.
  • Manage service contracts for facilities security services and equipment.
  • Work with stakeholders to anticipate and resolve security issues, ensuring program and project delivery.
  • Promote security awareness and training to ensure employee engagement of security requirements throughout the business.
  • Plan and execute security measures for buildings, facilities, projects, and programs, providing NPSA compliant solutions.
  • Maintain relationships with external commercial and government security advisors.
  • Report security metrics as required by the Senior leadership team and/or contract.

What You'll Need:

  • Proven experience in a security role within Government or Industry, handling government assets.
  • Ideally UK DV Cleared, or willing and able to obtain clearance.
  • DISA accreditation (Security Controller, Document Information Security, Security Vetting).
  • Knowledge of the Government Security Policy Framework and recent government security policies (e.g., GovS007, DEFSTAN 05-138, SBD, etc.).
  • Knowledge of security standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
  • Understanding of UK law pertinent to the security role.
  • Self-motivated, team player with good time management skills.
  • Proactive with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to effectively communicate security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective communication and report writing skills.
  • Competent with MS Office products.
