SEN Teaching Assistant

A primary school with a commitment to improvement, are looking for support staff who are passionate about people and dedicated to supporting children's learning and well-being.
With classes of 8-10 children that are created from developmental needs, rather than age, the SEN Teaching Assistant will support students with diverse learning needs, including those with learning disabilities and those who have experienced trauma.
Individualised assistance:
Providing one-on-one support to pupils with special educational needs, adapting teaching techniques to enhance their confidence and independence.
Understanding challenges:
Recognising and addressing the unique challenges faced by children with learning disabilities, tailoring support accordingly.
Assisting the students:
Assisting students in regulating behaviour and emotions, especially those who have experienced trauma. Fostering positive interactions and social skills, creating a supportive atmosphere.
Assisting the teachers:
Working closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging activities. Supporting students during transitions and daily routines, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
Assessment and inclusive approach:
Contributing to formal SEND assessments, considering both academic and emotional aspects. Sharing valuable insights with families and home schools, promoting a holistic understanding of each child's needs.
An SEN Teaching Assistant should have the following:
- Compassion, patience, and flexibility.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Genuine interest in helping children succeed.
- Prior experience in schools, education settings, or alternative provisions, especially with trauma-informed care, is necessary.
- You will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check & provide satisfactory references.
