Senior Medical Writer

The role of Senior Medical Writer is a brilliant opportunity to work on fascinating and diverse projects spanning from early development stage to pre and post launch. Educated to graduate level with a PhD/MSc and/or BSc in science and have proven medical writing and content development skills across many mediums and audiences within a medical communications setting for a minimum of three years. With high attention to detail a desire to not only meet but exceed expectations, you'll also be a flexible team player, able to multi-task and thrive working in an energetic team.

You'll thrive on being able to use your scientific knowledge combined with your excellent writing skills to turn data and clinical information into creative and informative content. You'll help deliver interesting presentations, write inspiring briefs, and pull together creative strategies. You will be a trusted strategic advisor to clients and colleagues on a variety of therapy areas such as Oncology, Respiratory Disease, Women's Health and more, and will enjoy contributing to high level meetings, and have the opportunity to travel internationally.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Understand the brief received in relation to the products' objectives
  • Have an extensive and thorough scientific understanding and knowledge in the key therapy areas in which you support, including landscape, product, competitors and the suitable messaging to use in the disease area
  • Generate robust, fair and balanced scientific content for review by account leads; some examples include, agendas, publications, slides, messaging, meeting materials
  • Be able to translate the science with integrity, empathy and impact
  • Distil complex science into clear, well-structured and meaningful communications
  • Ensure communication and educational messages are relevant, actionable and demonstrate a positive impact on patient outcomes
  • Input to strategic thinking, publication planning, scientific platform, narrative and lexicon development
  • Deliver projects to the brief, scope and timelines required
  • Carry out routine updates with thought leaders when the projects require
  • Build strong effective relationships with clients and thought leaders
  • Ensure the processes for quality control and reviewing materials are adhered to and all work has been QCed and edited appropriately
  • Comply with the medical writing processes, company style, and client branding guidelines if appropriate
  • Take responsibility that high-quality content is delivered to the client
  • Ensure the content meets the relevant compliance codes, e.g. ABPI, EFPIA
  • Adhere to publications guidelines
  • Proactively manage your workload with the client and internal teams
  • Proactively alert clients and internal teams of relevant scientific
  • Be available for domestic/international travel when the project requires onsite support

Keep abreast of industry alerts and key new data emerging in your client areas

Qualifications and experience

Educated to graduate level, with a PhD/MSc and/or BSc in science

Proven medical writing skills with at least three years' experience

Organised with excellent time-management skills

Good attention to detail

Proactive and enthusiastic

Competent in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Excellent written and spoken communication, including team communication
