Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in both classroom and 1:1 settings. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support to help students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEN needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans (PLPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, both in class and during interventions.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to support students' emotional and social development.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Adapt resources and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in an educational setting.
  • A good understanding of the primary/secondary curriculum and how to differentiate for students with SEN.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
