Role Purpose:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all Thriplow commercial vehicles are maintained to the agreed standards and remain fit for purpose, considering their age profile. Effective communication and management of workshop staff and van-based mechanics are crucial to ensure vehicle availability for customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all company vehicles and plant are maintained and ready for use.
  • Communicate with and manage workshop staff and van-based mechanics.
  • Ensure vehicles are available to service customers whenever possible.
  • Manage and develop the learning and growth of workshop managers.
  • Efficiently manage all vehicle assets to keep them operational.
  • Liaising with the central operations team.
  • Oversee financial performance, managing monthly R&M spend budgets/workshop staff monthly payroll.
  • Plan and schedule works.
  • Identify and develop third-party revenue streams.
  • National travel as required.
  • Acquire new fleet vehicles within capex forecast.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Support development/implementation of the correct operating structure to best suit the Group.

Systems & Processes:

  • Ensure all agreed processes are in place to minimise invoicing errors that result in the additional administrative burden in raising corrections and credit notes, PO's, prices etc.
  • Promote change management in line with the businesses vision, ensure reporting line understand and implement where required.
  • Work with the SLT to implement a new operating system, driving efficiencies in R&M across the group.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Monitor H&S standards and enforce action (where appropriate).
  • Comply with Thriplow Group H&S standards, legal requirements, and best practice within the business.

Location:

  • Based at our Tamworth site, with national travel required.
  • Occasional meetings at our head office in Duxford will also be necessary.

Experience Required:

  • Must have significant experience as a Regional Fleet Engineer/Manager.
  • Experience managing a fleet of over 100 vehicles.
  • Should come from a background in highways, construction, or plant operations.
  • Ideally a member of the Road Haulage Association (RHA).
  • Must hold a Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
