Recruitment Hunters are recruiting an experienced Student & Academic Services Manager for their HIGHER EDUCATION client based in Central London. Applicants must have worked for a University before in a similar role.

This will be a 9Months FTC starting ASAP. Candidates should have a mixture of Safeguarding/Welfare, Student Services, Timetabling, Academic Administration and Management experience...

This role will require an experienced manager who is used to managing a team of 4 members of staff to oversee the Student Service and Academic Function of this busy Higher Education department. The departments will include academic administration including attendance, Timetabling, Reception & overall Student Service. The ideal candidate must come from the Higher Education industry. In this capacity, the Student Services Manager is accountable for ensuring the highest level of student satisfaction and enforcing safeguarding and prevent policies to prioritize the well-being and protection of our students. additionally, the Manager is responsible for fostering a positive environment that encourages and motivates students to excel in their academic journey, this includes delivering excellent service to students and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations. The role also involves leading and developing the Student Services team members.

Key Purpose of the Role - Student & Academic Services Manager

The purpose of the job is to manage and supervise the Student and Academic Services department, also monitoring the quality of student satisfaction targets. The SAS is also responsible for managing the reception of the School and ensuring the smooth running of the department.

Key purpose of the role....

Welfare Management and Pastoral Support:

  • To lead on the pastoral care, welfare and safety of students at all times; ensuring the students adhere to the School rules. Extra duty of care is required for students under the age of 18.
  • To act as first point of contact for students requiring assistance.
  • To provide support to students for any personal problems that may arise.
  • To be kept informed of any welfare issues that are being addressed by other team members.
  • To keep the School Director informed of any major welfare issues or safeguarding issues.
  • To communicate policies regarding all aspects of student welfare,
  • To be sensitive to cultural differences.
  • To be responsible for updating and enforcing student facing policies

Student Services / Academic Services / Operational Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible to the student voice process starting from communication, compilation to result analysis and action plan,
  • To manage and supervise the Student and Academic Services team and Receptionist activities (scheduling shifts, splitting activities during busy times etc.) and be responsible for results,
  • To manage timetables for all programmes and courses and to monitor the frequency of lessons' rescheduling in the calendar,
  • To collaborate closely with the Visa Manager and to monitor attendance across classes in order to timely identify problems and take any required actions,
  • Monitor students' performance and highlight any critical cases to the Director of Education; manage assessment questionnaires' results, analyse them and propose an action plan accordingly with Director of Education and School Director,
  • To work closely with the Finance team to ensure successful students re-enrolments,
  • To share any students' disciplinary issues and complaints with the Director of Education and School Director,
  • To supervise the preparation of letters of information for attendance and, if required, of exceptional factors,
  • To actively monitor and support Diplomas/Certificates and other documentation for the Graduation Ceremony and to provide support in organising School's meetings & events.
  • To be responsible for the preparation of beginning of the year activities for the students,
  • To support students seeking exceptional factors,
  • To process suspension and withdrawal procedures,
  • To plan and organise examination and assessment timetable including resits in coordination with Registry,
  • To attend the Assessment Board and organise the resits,
  • To manage student social activities and events,
  • To act as institutional contact and promoter for students participation in the NSS,
  • To take part to Programme Committee Meetings and Programme Leaders' Meetings,
  • To manage the reception area and receptionists, addressing any concerns that may arise
  • To ensure the system is updated with accurate and reliable student information.

Education and Skills - Student & Academic Services Manager

Education

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (essential)

Experience

  • 3+ years Higher Education Sector experience - (To Current)
  • 3+ years Team Management experience
  • Student Services, Academic Services & Safeguarding/Wellbeing Experience Required

This is a 9Months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) and a hybrid role, 3days office, 2days remote in Central London. The salary will be between £50,000 Negotiable DOE + Excellent Benefits.
