Short Breaks Coordinator / Respite Care Manager - SN25/SN5

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? My client is looking for a dedicated Short Breaks Coordinator to lead and develop their respite care program, ensuring that these young individuals receive high-quality care, support, and enriching activities. The working patterns of this role will be Monday to Thursday at one of the Trust's Primary School sites and Sunday at their Respite site. The hours of work are 10-6:15 Monday to Wednesday, 10:30-6:15 on Thursday and 9:30-4:30 on Sunday. This role is available on a permanent basis and will be working for the full year across half-terms.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the Short Breaks program, ensuring safe, compliant, and enriching experiences for children and young people with SEND
  • Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing both safeguarding and administrative staff
  • Developing and implementing a Strategic Development Plan for Short Breaks, including budget management and staff performance
  • Overseeing the planning and delivery of activities that promote equality and meet regulatory standards
  • Managing staff recruitment, training, and performance to maintain high standards of care and service delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with Ofsted registration and other relevant regulations
  • Building and maintaining relationships with families, schools, and external agencies

About You

  • Be able to do the job as described
  • Have experience in managing services for children and young people with SEND - Minimum Level 3 in Health + Social/Childcare or similar
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, particularly in a care or educational setting
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ideally be Team Teach trained although training will be provided on this front
  • Have a valid driver's license as this role will require travel to 2 sites around Swindon and be willing to drive the minibus as needed
