Senior Development Manager

We are seeking a Senior Development Manager to help lead Risk Entity Screening, our flagship product that is aimed at protecting our customers from crime, corruption and other business risks. This is a very exciting opportunity to join a business in an innovative and constantly evolving industry.

We need somebody who can help each individual team member to perform to their optimum ability. You will work closely with the Directors, Architects and Developers to release high-quality software and deliver value to the business.

You will be able to understand system performance and scaling cloud applications, crafting for required performance, diagnosing performance problems in the architecture and in the code. And understand how to design systems for availability - with automated failover, and for scale.

Our primary goal in World Check one in the next two years will be to evolve the architecture into a Cloud Native architecture, this role requires a balance of keeping touch with new technologies and how they will tackle our problems along with an awareness of what problems they may introduce to our ecosystem.

Job description

The goals of this role are:

  • Lead the development of the Risk Screening Products and services.
  • Ensure high levels of service, quality, security and performance are consistently met. Where necessary, target debt in these areas and prioritise appropriately alongside feature delivery.
  • Drive innovations to lead growing volumes that reduce cost and TTM .
  • Support business teams for client presentations and strategy updates
  • Drive innovation and differentiation to better address current and future needs within the Risk domain.
  • Drive organisational efficiencies in alignment with corporate strategies around headcount, location and maximising of corporate assets.
  • Drive continued program of service improvement for the performance and availability of Risk Screening products and handle changing expectations around security, privacy, and data residency.
  • Drive teams to deliver quality products on time, following Agile software development practices.
  • Foster a high-performance management team through coaching, engagement, and performance management.
  • Cultivate a culture of quality, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision making.
  • Constantly inspect and adapt processes and standards to meet customer demands.
  • Work with all business areas to target shared pain points and maximise the efficiency of your engineering team.

You are:

You have:

  • Degree level qualification, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience running large scale global systems and teams.
  • Experience with Java, and Cloud Natives technologies
  • Experience building high performance scalable solutions.
  • Experience running geographically dispersed teams, in a matrixed organization.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-location multi time zone environment, with remote stakeholders and dependent teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to build relationships and optimally communicate across all management and organizational levels.
  • Proven organizational skills; Ability to multi-task; Value and detail oriented with demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Accomplished at relationship building across business, technology, finance, and other key stakeholder domains.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment leading multiple projects with strict deadlines.
  • Experience of working with ML/AI technologies would be beneficial.
