Automation Developer

Your new company and role
This new contract role is with a major organisation in Scotland's public sector. The client for this role is based in Edinburgh. An experienced software engineer is required to provide hands-on technical leadership to an agile development team seeking to leverage document processing and ML to realise new automation opportunities for the organisation. The role will be 6 months initially with likelihood to extend beyond due to the scope of the client's work.
Main objectives

  • Develop an automation service based on the findings from prior Research & Development. This service will leverage OCR and NLP analysis of deeds in order to build the rule set to safely deliver automation results.
  • Develop system components to support deed OCR, NLP analysis, signature detection and title change prediction on the RoS AWS serverless platform
  • Robust data analysis to verify and improve system behaviour
  • Provide high quality support of the operational service.

What you'll need to succeed
Significant commercial experience with the following technology:

  • OCR and lexical analysis techniques, including NLP (Spacy) and ML
  • AWS including: CDK, Serverless (Lambda), S3, API Gateway, Cloud Formation, Aurora/Postgres
  • Python/Typescript
  • Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes, including Grafana.
  • Defining infrastructure-as-code

Desirable Skills

  • AWS AI and OCR services such as Textract, ML/MLOps
  • OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker
  • PyTorch
