Class Teacher – Special Educational Needs

This excellent special school is currently recruiting for an experienced Class Teacher to teach a small class of children with autism as their primary diagnosis. This Class Teacher role could be based in a Key Stage 3, 4 or 5 class, depending on where the successful applicant will have the biggest impact. The leadership at this school is outstanding and provide excellent support for both staff and students and has recently been praised by Ofsted.

As a Class Teacher at this school, you will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons that inspire, engage, and stretch students with varying needs. You will be supported by an experienced team of Teaching Assistants, who provide tailored 1-2-1 and whole class support. The school welcome applications from any subject specialism and are happy to consider class teachers from a primary, secondary or special school background. QTS is essential for this role.

Job Role:

  • Teaching a small class of children aged 11 - 19 with special educational needs.
  • Planning and delivering lessons to meet the need of individual children.
  • Liaising with the SENCO and TA's to ensure children are supported appropriately.
  • Making school a nurturing, welcoming and safe place for students.
  • Helping young people to break down academic and social barriers.
