We're looking for a Technical Expert to join our Westhoughton site.

We're looking for those that can identify potential issues, guide, advise and implement solutions particularly from a chemistry expertise viewpoint. The individual should effectively liaise with key stakeholders to fully understand their needs and deliver solutions in line with those requirements.

Fully support the smooth introduction of new products or evolving products into manufacturing, through your technical knowledge you'll ensure achievement of customer service objectives. You'll actively promote customer and supplier technical relationships to improve working practices and initiatives across the whole manufacturing operation.

Further to this we're looking for you to deliver technical improvements to drive and optimise plant efficiency particularly in the areas of safety, quality, cost and delivery. Primarily this will be delivered through technical trials and scale up manufacturing qualification.

Please note you will be expected to actively participate in R&D projects on site; facilitate trial requests and support with follow up technical analysis, appraisal and recommendations.

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • Proven experience in a technical role, ideally within a related industry
  • Degree in Chemistry and/or proven industrial experience from one or more of the following areas:
  • Formulation of Industrial printing, inks, binders and pigments
  • Industrial thin polymer film, PET, BOPP etc.
  • A knowledge of laboratory based analytical techniques and methodologies
  • Computer literate with MS Office
  • Have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes

Desirable

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD, CorelDraw and Minitab advantageous
  • Six Sigma or knowledge of other lean techniques desirable
  • Project management skills/experience and the ability to progress several initiatives / projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrable people skills especially liaison with other departments and customers
  • Be proactive and results orientated and able to demonstrate examples of improvements and achievements
