Finance Manager

In this pivotal role as Finance Manager, you will oversee all financial operations, ensuring the highest standards of financial management and reporting. You will manage the accounting function, support budget holders, and drive continuous improvement in financial systems and processes. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, you will help develop and execute financial plans and strategies, ensuring compliance with all regulations. As a key member of the team, you will also lead budgeting efforts, monitor financial performance, and support audit and risk management activities. Your leadership will be essential in driving the development and support of our finance team, promoting financial literacy, and championing organisational values and mission.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of the annual draft budget plan.
  • Ensure quality delivery of financial management and reporting.
  • Provide support and guidance to budget holders and implement systems and procedures for consistency and compliance.
  • Continuously improve financial systems and processes.
  • Develop a 3-year financial plan in collaboration with the CFO and Financial Controller.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and operation of the accounting function, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and payroll.
  • Provide training and support for non-financial staff in financial systems and procedures, promoting financial literacy across the organisation.
  • Support the CFO in executing growth strategies and onboarding new entities.
  • Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts, including cash flows and balance sheets.
  • Monitor expenditure and income, providing monthly reports to the CFO and ELT with recommended actions.
  • Review all financial policies, processes, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and ensure appropriate and compliant use of funding.
  • Maintain effective internal audit control systems and address audit findings with appropriate action plans.
  • Lead the development and support of the finance team.
  • Deputise for the CFO as required.

This permanent Finance Manager will be based onsite at the organisations head office in East London and require regular office attendance. You will inherit a hardworking and ambitious team who are eager to further their skills and abilities.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Proven in budget preparation, monitoring, and analysis.
  • A High-performing manager.
  • An effective communicator.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail.

Please note previous experience in the education sector is desirable but in no way essential.
