What you'll be doing

The QHSE Manager will be responsible for overseeing the quality control process and ensuring that our products meet the required quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing and managing an ISO9001 quality management system and will be responsible for ensuring that the system is maintained and continuously improved. The successful candidate will be an experienced manager who is committed to achieving and maintaining high-quality standards and will work closely with the production team to ensure that our products meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

Quality Management

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for all products and services.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and other relevant quality standards.
  • Train and coach production staff on quality control procedures.
  • Monitor and report on quality control metrics, including defect rates, reject rates, and customer complaints.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions to address quality issues.
  • Ensure that quality control equipment and tools are maintained and calibrated as required.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage and develop the Quality team, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to build out our ISO 9001 program, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) o Collaborate with Directors and Managers to establish and monitor business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the business.
  • Serve as a champion within the business for maintaining and continuously improving KPIs related to quality metrics, driving a culture of quality excellence.
  • Provide front-line support and guidance to the Quality Control (QC) team, acting as a mentor and resource for Quality Supervisor to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • First Aid and Fire Marshals
  • Ensure regular testing of fire alarms and routine fire drills
  • Maintain certifications for all First Aiders and Fire Marshals
  • Organise new training and renewals
  • Ensuring the First Aid boxes in the building are fully stocked and replenished accordingly
  • Ensure the accident book is maintained
  • Conduct accident investigations, implementing appropriate preventative measures and report accordingly
  • Conduct and record risk assessments, considering how risks could be reduced
  • DSE Assessments
  • Conduct DSE Assessments for any new members of staff (computer based only)
  • Ensure that annual assessments are completed for current staff
  • COSHH & Risk Assessments
  • Complete risk assessments for any new oils/chemicals/inks on the premises
  • Revise current assessments on a yearly basis
  • Machinery & Vehicle Risk Assessments
  • Complete risk assessments for all machinery and vehicle on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure all new starters have completed a Health & Safety Induction and a Lone Worker assessment
  • Meet monthly with Directors to discuss complex health and safety strategies, including policy formulation, auditing, management of risk and training.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety Champions in the business
  • Ensuring all subcontractors meet their legal duties in supplying insurance certificates and maintain health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Ensuring that manual handling courses are carried out
  • Leading the charge for Health & Safety in all areas including initiatives
  • Maintains an awareness of new and existing relevant laws, rules and regulations
  • Conduct Health & Safety Audits and inspections to ensure site compliance with Health & Safety processes and procedures

This role is for you if you:

  • At least five years of experience in a quality control or quality management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with managing ISO9001 or other quality management systems.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 standards is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
