Welfare Assistant

TimePlan Education are recruiting a Welfare Assistant to join a lovely Infant school in Palmers Green, from September 2024.

Your role and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Caring for sick and injured children. This will include being involved in personal hygiene which will also include cleaning bodily fluids.
  • Provide First Aid for all adults within the school setting as required.
  • Administer First Aid and medication in accordance with the school medical policy and as agreed with SLT and parent/carer.
  • Complete daily accident forms and ensure they are given to children via class teacher at the end of each day, and electronically input to the RM (MIS) system.
  • Notify SLT of any head injury and alert parents on possibility of concussion.
  • Inform SLT of any risks discovered.
  • In the event of more serious accidents, report details to senior staff, parents and request an ambulance if required. Record details in the accident book, and "the online accident reporting system".
  • To check First Aid boxes have adequate supplies.
  • Monitoring First Aid consumables stock and re-ordering when necessary.
  • To maintain a clean and organised environment (medical room) at all times.
  • Ensure medical room equipment and materials are clean, tidy and stored correctly and that all medication (epipens, asthma pumps, diabetic related equipment, etc.) are clearly labelled and have not expired.
  • Assist with intimate care of children as necessary across the school in accordance with school policy.
  • Organising medical programmes that may be required to be carried out within the school.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in supporting children or young adults.
  • Calm and empathetic.
  • Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
  • Available 5 days a week and able to commit to at least 2-6 months.
