About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Reading, Portsmouth or London

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: 18 Month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available

Are you an internal communications professional with a passion for driving transformation and fostering employee engagement? Join SSEN Distribution as a Senior Internal Communications Manager where you'll design compelling change communications for more than 4,200 colleagues, ensuring timely and effective message delivery while also enhancing our employee engagement initiatives. You'll work closely with change and business leads to prioritise messages, use campaign-style messaging to build a lasting understanding of our Transformation Programme, and ensure every colleague's voice is heard, no matter where they are or how they work. The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Acting as 'air-traffic control' for internal communications, ensuring the right messages are landing at the right time, and adjusting delivery methods for different audience types.
  • Creating and delivering regular interactive engagement sessions that facilitate two-way conversations, developing and maintaining an employee engagement calendar that covers all Distribution.
  • Tracking and measuring engagement activities and sentiment, using this data to inform communication plans and maintain an appropriate tone across the business.
  • Influencing key stakeholders on communication best practices, championing engaging and effective strategies while solving complex engagement challenges, including engaging diverse and remote audiences.
  • Partnering with the Distribution Internal Communications team to effectively plan and deliver cohesive communications that address business challenges and the opportunities our Transformation Programme brings.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Proven experience in the creation, management and delivery of large communication plans for complex change projects, creating understanding and commitment to change with positive engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to advise and influence senior managers, and the confidence to coach others.
  • Ability to create clarity and simplify complex messaging with the key audiences at the heart of your thinking.
  • Detailed understanding of internal communication processes, channels, and measurement techniques with experience of using Poppulo and SharePoint.
  • Ability to adjust strategies and plans based on feedback and quantifiable measurement.

Regular travel will be expected across SSE's key UK locations.
