We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Buyer to join our client's procurement team in Chesterfield.

Job Summary: The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that meet the company's standards for quality, cost, and delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely availability of materials to support our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality materials and services.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their needs and ensure alignment of procurement activities.
  • Analyse and report on procurement metrics to drive process improvements and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 MRP system.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and green procurement initiatives.
