Are you a high-performing Internal Communications Specialist looking for your next exciting career move? We have a fantastic opportunity to join our vibrant in-house Communications Team. This full-time, permanent role is your chance to make a significant impact across a diverse organisation of over 800 colleagues.

Why this role?

This is not your standard internal comms position; it's an influential, high-impact role where you will be at the heart of our mission to create a cohesive and engaged workforce. You'll be developing and delivering internal communications campaigns that resonate, inspire, and align with our strategic goals and core values.

What you'll do:

  • Drive engagement: Develop innovative communication campaigns that inform and engage our colleagues, ensuring consistent and clear messaging across all locations and job functions.
  • Support unity: Foster a unified organisational culture where every colleague understands and embraces our shared goal of putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.
  • Collaborate and innovate: Work closely with our colleague engagement team to gather insights and manage a variety of internal communication channels. Collaborate with our talented comms team and network of suppliers to create compelling content.
  • Measure success: Use innovative approaches to measure the impact of your campaigns, ensuring alignment with Our 2030 plan.

Internal campaigns and activity in the past 12 months include:

  • Launching our 2030 plan at our bi-annual all-colleague conference
  • Supporting the transformation of our People & Culture division and securing coverage in People Management Magazine
  • Creation of whgTV – bite-size video content and interviews developed in-house and starring colleagues from around the business

If you are passionate about making a difference through exceptional communication and eager to grow in a social business that truly supports people, we want to hear from you.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Recent and relevant experience in an internal communications role, with a proven track record of delivering projects that support strategic objectives.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to create content that is accessible and engaging.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A good understanding of digital communication channels and accessibility requirements. Experience in managing and developing company intranets.
  • A good understanding of internal communication strategies and tactics
  • Membership of a professional body (IOIC, CIPR or similar) is desirable but not essential.

What's in it for you?
