SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Support local children as a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant... Your primary focus will revolve around the following key responsibilities:

Leading the Academy Nurture Provision: Spearheading the academy's Nurture Provision to ensure a nurturing and supportive environment for students.

Complementing Professional Work: Collaborating with teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to enhance the educational experience of students. This involves undertaking planned activities under supervised conditions, such as designing and delivering tailored learning experiences for individuals, groups, or whole classes. Additionally, monitoring student progress and achievements, and maintaining comprehensive records thereof.

Subject Area Management: Taking charge of managing and developing a specific subject area within the academy. This may include overseeing other teaching assistants, delegating tasks, providing guidance, conducting performance appraisals, and facilitating training initiatives.

Addressing Student Needs: Assuming a leadership role within the academy to address the requirements of students encountering learning obstacles. This includes providing targeted support to individuals requiring additional assistance in overcoming learning barriers.

Promoting Inclusive Education: Supporting students, teachers, and the academy in elevating academic standards for all students, with a particular emphasis on those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This entails employing advanced knowledge and skills to assist with curriculum planning, assessment, classroom management, and fostering students' independence. Additionally, ensuring students' welfare and promoting their inclusion in all aspects of academy life.

Qualifications & Experience:

We encourage applications from individuals who possess the following qualifications and experience:

GCSE (or Equivalent) in English and Maths: Achieved at Grade C/4 or above.

NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent: Holders of this qualification are preferred.

Knowledge of Learning Barriers: Demonstrated understanding of various learning barriers, particularly those related to special needs.

Experience in Provision Assessment: Previous involvement in contributing to and evaluating provision for children with diverse needs.

Awareness of Social Issues: Some familiarity with the social challenges faced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

School-Based Experience: A minimum of two years' experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school environment or an equivalent setting.
