About the role
Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) are now recruiting for a Senior Financial Crime Manager to join the team. You'll be responsible for managing the Financial Crime Advisory Team (FCAT) and overseeing the AML and financial crime controls at HL, including supporting the 1st line of defence 1LOD (operations, client services and helpdesk teams) in terms of SME knowledge and expertise on business queries concerning AML and financial crime. This role reports into the Group Head of Financial Crime and MLRO.
What you'll be doing
- Acting as Financial Crime Manager supporting the business in AML and financial crime queries and making sure HL remains effective in preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and financial crime in line with 2017 and 2019 Money Laundering regulations, industry standards and regulators expectations
- Managing the key Financial Crime Advisory Team (FCAT) who form the 2nd line of defence (2LOD) and liaise with the 1st line (1LOD) in terms of providing knowledge support and oversight for both new and existing HL clients, suspicions of financial and queries concerning CDDKYC requirements for individual clients as well as entities
- Supporting and maintaining effective working relationships with 1st line teams including AML Operations ensuring consistent AML controls are applied to new and existing clients and periodic review cycles are maintained for existing clients
- Overseeing and managing the internal SARs process including investigation and escalation, supporting and training the team and ensuring appropriate cases are escalated to the MLRO/DMLRO for decision and reporting to the NCA
- Ensuring the appropriate controls are in place for AML transaction monitoring and oversee and develop the FCAT team in assessing and investigating AML TM alerts and escalating as appropriate to the MLRO/DMLRO
- Monitoring and maintaining the PEP register and ensuring EDD is applied to new PEPs as well as ensuring annual reviews are conducted on PEPs and RCA's
About you
- Excellent understanding of the UK regulatory requirements (2017 and 2019 ML Regs and JMLSG Guidance), industry best practice and FCA expectations for AML and financial crime
- Experience in AML and financial crime in the financial services industry
- Ability to act autonomously and function independently
- Experience in CDDKYC, AML transaction monitoring, Sanctions/PEP screening and SAR investigation and reporting
- Excellent knowledge of products and services offered within an Asset Management/Wealth/Platforms or financial services firms
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, including report writing skills
- Ability to work with key stakeholders in 1st and 2nd line
- Experience in a senior or financial crime manager role managing a team of people
Interview process
The interview process for this role is two stages including a presentation task.
Working Schedule
This role is based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This is a permanent full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern of working in the office and at home.
