Property Accountant

Property Accountant - OUR CLIENT is an established and sizeable property developer and investor who have a position for a Property Accountant to provide support to the Manager ensuring the smooth running of all financial aspects relating to the management of Service Charges across the allocated portfolio. The role will work closely with Property Accountants and the wider property management services team.

THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS and SKILLS of the Property Accountant:

  • Assisting with the maintenance of a complex service charge estate.
  • Preparing service charge budgets and calculating service charges for tenants.
  • Reviewing service charge expenditure and investigating variances against budget.
  • Request forecasting adjustments if required, including presenting SC data at budget meetings with budget holders.
  • Administering the year end reconciliation process.
  • Assisting with system development and process automation of estate service charges.
  • Reviewing Tenant Recovery & Landlord Recovery account and reconciling monthly.
  • Liaising with Management Accounts/Financial Accounts on group reporting, financial statements and external audits.
  • Quarterly reconciling balance sheet accounts and assisting the Financial Controller in presenting financial results to Group Finance on a quarterly basis.

THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS and SKILLS of the Property Accountant:

  • Preferably Part-Qualified accountant - actively studying but QBE with good exp welcomed
  • Experience of at least 5 years in a service charge accounting background within a Property Management environment is essential. Broad experience across commercial, residential and retail service charges is highly desirable.
  • Experience using property management systems is required - experience with Yardi would be a particular benefit but is not required.
  • Good Excel skills and an ability to present financial results in a concise and understandable manner is essential.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently under pressure and be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong data analysis skills and an ability to identify and resolve problems is essential.
  • Possessing good communication skills and a desire to work closely with the wider Property Management Services team.
  • Be able to establish good working relationships across the organisation.
