About our client: Out client have over 240 years of service excellence within their industry, well known within the surveying division they are well respected with a great successful history & reputation.
About the Role:
We are looking for a junior Accounts Assistant to undertake all allocated duties competently to support the smooth running of the Accounts department, providing cover and support for colleagues where required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconciling the time recording system to ensure all time has been entered and is free from variances prior to entering into the accounting system.
  • Requesting approvals of time and expenses on the time recording system from the relevant managers.
  • Reconciling the bank account and inter-company loan account.
  • Preparing weekly Aged Debtor Reports.
  • Supporting the Credit Control function and following up on overdue invoices.
  • Maintaining the Approved Supplier List including but not limited to adding approved new supplier details to the database and filing completed new supplier forms, tracking when supplier insurances, certifications and qualifications expire and liaising internally with the relevant staff to get updated details.
  • Posting daily receipts in the accounting system, matching off against the relevant invoice and updating the daily cashflow tracker with amounts received, including forecasting from remittance

  • Posting journal entries weekly and monthly, and on an ad-hoc basis from data provided to you.
  • Downloading and filing monthly bank statements and issuing petty cash bank statements to relevant staff.
  • Reconciling petty cash returns before entering into the accounting system.
  • Maintaining up to date HMRC advisory fuel rates
  • Assisting in the setup of new projects.
  • Reconciling the Fee Forecast and checking new projects have flowed through.
  • Assisting with the production of sales invoices.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with preparing VAT returns.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with generating purchase orders for contractors, tracking PO values and advising when value has been reached.
  • General office administration including but not limited to answering the phone, dealing with post, ordering office supplies, organising confidential waste collections, etc.
  • Undertaking ad-hoc reporting and analysis when required by the Finance Manager.
  • Consistently applying robust internal controls and procedures to ensure Corderoy's ongoing compliance with both statutory and its own reporting requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate records and audit trails to ensure your own area of responsibility is covered during absences.
  • Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information

Education/Qualifications & The Ideal candidate:
Minimum grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English

Additional Skills or Experience:

  • As this is a trainee position, no prior experience is required, however, the ability to demonstrate commitment and desire for a career in an accounting function is essential.
  • Competent IT skills - good practical experience of Microsoft Office essential. Person Specification:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills - with the ability to contribute effectively both orally and written.
  • Strong organisational skills - with the ability to manage competing priorities to meet agreed deadlines.

  • Flexible approach in order to meet the needs of the business.
  • Adaptable - able to positively overcome or adjust to changes in your role. A willingness to adopt new methods or techniques.
