About the role
Clearing & Payments department supports the bank in a back office capacity, supporting the bank's operational processing for various banking product, working with retail branches and Front office teams to support London Branch and Subsidiary customers. As a Junior Assistant - Payments within the payments team, you will be responsible to support Customer's Payment transactions and assist with the operational processing of a multitude of UK and international retail payments, ensuring such payments are processed accurately and efficiently, in accordance with Bank of China Policies, SLA's and relevant regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Process a range of domestic and cross border payments including BACS, CHAPS, SWIFT, GIRO credits, faster payments, UK domestic cheque clearing and bank draft clearing
- Set up and process regular customer payments such as standing orders and direct debits
- Investigate, resolve and, if necessary, escalate any processing issues, liaising with Bank of China UK retail branches to ensure the timely resolution of customers' payment queries
- Assist in streamlining processes, demonstrating innovation whilst following and acknowledging the relevant regulations and operational risks
- Assist with system testing for system implementation and upgrades
- Review and revise established business procedures
- Uphold high customer satisfaction standards
- Capture statistical information for reporting
- Assistance with any relevant investigations for Payments
Requirements
- Degree educated preferably in Business or related discipline
- Solid academic background with a minimum of 3 A levels or equivalent with GCSE's in Mathematics and English
- Ideally some experience of Swift and Retail Banking Payment Processing and relevant global Payment Schemes
- Awareness of relevant legislations such as Consumer Duty, FCA and PRA Regulations
- Experience of Accounting or Banking
- Fast learner who's adaptable to changes
- Advanced MS Excel and Word skills
- Excellent team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in Mandarin is preferred but not essential
