Working with a global specialty insurer, we are currently recruiting a newly created role with for a tax professional who wishes to gain a breadth of experience in a dynamic environment. The Finance Team, of which tax is a part, is responsible for supporting the business in its initiatives across the world, and by ensuring all statutory filing and tax-payment requirements are met on a timely basis. The role encompasses a range of areas, across the global footprint, including Group tax reporting, VAT, GST and Sales & Use Tax reporting, Corporate Tax reporting, Transfer pricing, and Project work
The successful candidate will have a leading role in relationship management with external advisers, both in the compliance and advisory spaces. The global footprint includes UK, US, Germany, UAE, Singapore and Canada taxes. This role will assist in managing the offshore team, and partner closely with onshore and offshore finance teams, as well as leadership in multiple other divisions. The role will give exposure to senior leadership, including the Chief Actuary, Chief People Officer, and Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Preparation of group tax reporting packages under UK, US and other local GAAPs
- Tax forecasting
- Leadership on the monthly and quarterly VAT, GST and Sales & Use Tax return processes, overseeing the offshore team and managing relationship with advisers
- Working with finance and other upstream teams to continually improve processes and identify indirect tax-sensitive items on a real-time basis
- Leadership on data preparation for corporate tax returns and ownership of the annual compliance cycle, and relationship with advisers
- Preparation and updates of transfer pricing documentation
- Proactively evaluate opportunities to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in operational processes, as they impact the range of taxes the company is subject to
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and training, so upstream processes correctly manage inherent tax risks and understand the tax sensitivity of their activities
- Participate in ad-hoc projects, tax, finance and group-wide, including liaising with other company functions, to support the Head of Tax
To be successful in this role, you will need to be/have:
- Seven-plus years of experience in a tax role in a corporate environment
- Experience of VAT, other indirect taxes, corporate tax, and financial reporting of taxes
- Strong data skills, with a high competence in Excel
- Strong time and task management skills, highly organized and able to meet deadlines
- Professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CTA or any international equivalent qualification would be beneficial
- Experience of the Insurance market would be beneficial
- Experience of managing offshore teams would be beneficial
