Insurance Technician

Job Purpose:

My client is seeking a dedicated Insurance Technician to join their Technical Services team reporting into the Technical Manager. The primary focus of this role is the processing of a diverse range of insurance classes. Additionally, the role involves supporting the development and maintenance of technical documentation and processes to ensure compliance with industry requirements, including the processing of claims on the Electronic Claim File (ECF) system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production and processing of Binding Authority risk and premium bordereaux.
  • Submission of documentation to Lloyd's and Company markets via Xchanging, using Accounting and Settlement processes, and delinking where applicable, for bulk closings and
  • Facultative Business.
  • Assisting with the resolution of technical queries and liaising with producers, clients, underwriters, and Xchanging as required.
  • Preparation of Premium Advice Notes (LPANs), closings, and closing endorsements.
  • Running accounting reports, reconciliation, and liaising with the accounts department and other business units.
  • Raising payment requests and maintaining workbooks, statistics, and tracking workflow.
  • Maintaining technical files and calculating profit commissions.
  • Engaging with new systems, whether within the client's company, associated companies, or the London (Re)Insurance Market.
  • General technical duties as required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Well-developed administrative and organisational skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience working within the Lloyd's Insurance Broking Market.
  • Familiarity with technical processes and documentation of both Lloyd's and Company markets.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, with confident use of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Mathematical and basic accounting skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance and reinsurance technical processing.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally educated to 'A' level standard, with a minimum of GCSE grade 'B' in Maths and English Language.
  • A strong desire to achieve CII qualifications.
  • Any other duties as requested by senior management to fulfil the job purpose.
