Axon Moore is exclusively partnering with a high growth Insurance business based in London who are looking hire an experienced and highly driven Finance Director. The Finance Director will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of the business. This role involves overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including financial planning, analysis, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. The Finance Director will work closely with the CEO and other senior executives to develop and implement strategies that support the company's long-term growth and profitability

This is an ideal role for a qualified finance professional looking to step into their first FD position, but Insurance sector experience is essential.

Salary:

£100,000 - £130,000 + bonus and benefits

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's goals. Provide financial insight and recommendations to the CEO and the board of directors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of financial forecasts and scenario analysis. Monitor performance against the budget and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Work closely with the risk management team to ensure adequate insurance coverage and risk controls are in place.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including insurance-specific requirements. Liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors as needed.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Ensure the team is equipped to meet the company's financial goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to drive financial efficiency across the organisation. Implement and manage financial systems and controls to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison to stakeholders, including investors, analysts, and the board of directors. Provide clear and concise communication on the company's financial health and strategy.
  • Business partnering with the CEO and C-suite to drive better decisions and to enhance understanding and accountability.
  • Managing relationships with external advisors, accountants, and financial institutions.
  • Managing the Accounting/Financial Reporting team and working with them to build out robust financial processes and controls.
  • Owning the production of monthly management accounts including trend analysis, variance analysis.
  • Cashflow management including managing the weekly funding request process with investors.
  • Budgeting and forecasting for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Developing appropriate performance measures and KPIs for trading practice areas
  • Manage a strong relationship with key suppliers and key stakeholders
  • Maintaining a robust control environment to proactively manage regulatory and financial risks

Person Specification:

  • Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven track record in leading a finance function within startup or scale-up environment, ideally within the Insurance sector
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with experience building and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry-specific financial practices.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful financial strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, able to present complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Adaptable and thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Experience in setting up robust financial processes to create consistent, timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Confident and able to constructively challenge stakeholders
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders
  • Experience working in regulated financial services or insurance.
