Freight Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated Freight Coordinator to join our logistics team. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods by air, sea, road, and rail. The ideal candidate will be adept at negotiating freight rates, managing cargo bookings, and serving as the primary liaison for clients throughout the shipping process.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Plan and coordinate the movement of goods across various transportation modes.
- Negotiate and arrange freight rates with carriers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Book cargo space accurately and in a timely manner with suppliers.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing shipment status updates and resolving any issues.
- Supply customers with tracking information and regular updates on shipment progress.
- Prepare and process essential shipping documents, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and compliant.
- Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and export/import laws.
- Coordinate customs clearance and address any related issues promptly.
- Monitor the flow of goods through supply chain stages and manage any disruptions.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment process issues to minimize delays.
- Maintain precise records of shipments, including costs and customer interactions.
- Produce regular reports on shipment status, costs, and performance metrics.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in freight coordination or a similar logistics role.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work proactively and find solutions to supply chain disruptions.
- Proficiency in managing documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Competency in generating and interpreting shipment reports and performance metrics.
