About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Barnsley. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in delivering tailored educational programs to students with special needs
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with a range of needs, including Autism, Dyslexia, and Speech and Language Difficulties
- Help manage classroom behavior and promote effective learning
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure cohesive support for students
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to relevant staff and parents
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is essential
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education or support (desirable but not essential)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
