Accounts Payable Assistant | Wrotham - Hybrid | £23-26K | 12 month FTC

Our client, a growing organisation working within the industry are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant to join them on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Purchase Ledger Manager you will be fully accountable for the whole purchase ledger process from invoice receipt, through the approval process to authorisation and payment.

The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for processing expense claims, reconciling petty cash, matching and coding invoices, preparing and running BACS payments and reconciling supplier statements. You will provide a professional and efficient service to the finance function, as well as other departments throughout the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Expense System - review and process expense claims logged and ensure compliance with company policy, correct allocation and VAT coding treatment
  • Reconcile and analyse Soldo card and petty cash spend, chase up receipts and prepare monthly journal and support the administration of the process
  • Complete weekly BACs payment runs and ensure all invoices and expenses are paid in a timely manner
  • Set up suppliers and employees within the finance system, ensure company and employee information is kept up to date
  • Ensure accurate entry of invoices, coding and associated VAT
  • Complete supplier statement reconciliations
  • Deal with all relevant queries and ensure all invoices/ expenses are authorised in line with limits
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both suppliers and colleagues
  • Review systems and processes and suggest improvements where necessary
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks as requested by management

Key skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work to deadlines
