Main purposes of role

The Clinical Negligence department provide specialist advice to support clients through their medical negligence claims.

You will work alongside a Senior Associate to undertake a broad mix of high quality clinical negligence work as well as support in the development and growth of the department through marketing & networking activities.

To undertake matters which you are competent to conduct having due regard to the policies and procedures defined in the Office Manual relating to your areas of work.

Key tasks (not an exhaustive list)

  • Manage a caseload of clinical negligence files, under supervision, dealing effectively with cases and transactions.
  • Manage time recording, WIP monitoring and billing consistently, meeting targets and objectives set.
  • Deal directly with clients to take instructions and ensuring full understanding in order to deliver on client expectations
  • Research and draft articles and assist with the production of marketing materials.
  • Begin to develop a network of clients, contacts and potential referrers and attend networking events
  • Encourage juniors/ trainees, provide feedback to assist their learning, effectively delegating tasks where appropriate
  • Understand, learn and apply all business processes applicable to own work learning new processes as required.
  • Perform fee earning work accurately, reliably and in accordance with the firm's quality and risk management procedures [Lexcel].

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Highly experience within claimant Clinical Negligence law.
  • Ability to manage own files with minimal supervision.
  • Strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service.
  • Organised and able to effectively prioritise.
  • Self-sufficient.
  • Experience of using a case management system, preferably Proclaim.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GDPR and Equality Standards
